From the inception of iconic gatherings like the Pondicherry Lit Fest, Pondicherry Literature and Arts Festival, Aurodhan’s Oneness Festival, to the recent addition of the Aurodhan World Dance Festival boasting over 111 events, we have consistently raised the bar of excellence. Aurodhan Dance Festival 2024
The Aurodhan World Dance Festival, held around the 5th of March 2024, brought together over 120 artists from diverse corners of the globe, surpassing expectations with a spectacular showcase of over 111 events. Each performance, ranging from classical Bharatnatyam to mind-stirring Bhutto, from the graceful movements of Odissi to the vibrant rhythms of Rajasthani Folk, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, including Soul style, Kolam dance, Freestyle, and Dance Dramas, contributing to a collective vision of inspiring others to embrace dance for the alignment of mind, body, and soul. Noteworthy additions like Baul by Parvathy Baul, with music by the renowned Mahesh Viku Vinayakram and songs by Abhijeet Ghoshal of Saregama fame, enriched the festival experience, elevating it to new heights of artistic excellence.
Rooted in the profound belief that dance fosters love, peace, and harmony, the Aurodhan Art Gallery presented this concept to the world, aiming to ignite the spirits of dancers, mentors, and enthusiasts alike, urging them to immerse themselves in this transformative art form. What was your inspiration from the start? Your early years. When you look back, what do you recall?
My introduction to the revolutionary thoughts of Great men and the progressive theories of human evolution at the Sri Aurobindo ashram helped me kick start a beautiful journey.

There is always a personal side and also a professional dimension. How much has this been a personal journey?
From the earliest days, a profound reverence for inner growth guided my path. Inspired by the belief that beauty lies not just in appearance but in thoughts and actions, I embarked on a journey of personal evolution and upliftment.
Any personal encounter that you wish to recall?
One defining moment stands out vividly. Once I was introduced by an elder, my towering physical stature became the topic of conversation. However, it was the elder’s heartfelt wish for inner growth that left an indelible mark: “May you grow beautifully tall from within too.” This encounter sparked a silent resolve to nurture not only outward appearance but also inner depth.
Since that transformative encounter, my journey has been characterized by a commitment to inner and outer richness and collective betterment. The name of my organisation also symbolises the same.
Yes, in fact, I was going to ask you: how this name?
Aurodhan meaning the dawning of spiritual richess. Striving to embody virtues of kindness, compassion, empathy, and a surrender to perfection, one hopes to share positivity and contribute to a more harmonious world. This journey, with an effort to control personal ego, serves as a testament to the universal pursuit of inner fulfilment and service to humanity.
Your early years and education?
My early education was at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram – this provided a spiritual foundation rooted in revolutionary thoughts such as “All Life is Yoga.” Combined with a Master’s in Business Administration and experience gained from esteemed organizations like the Tatas, several international travels, along with proficiency in multiple languages, I was equipped to positively contribute in my own small way to the society’s enlightenment and evolution.
Funding is always an issue. How did you manage this over all these years?
Funding for the events I organize as a selfless contribution to society has always been a significant challenge. Despite this, I have found innovative ways to overcome financial barriers. One approach involves bridging connections between esteemed artists and eager audiences, fostering inspiration and mutual benefit. Additionally, artists generously sharing their talents with others has allowed for collaborative experiences that enrich all involved. At times, I’ve co-sponsored events or reinvested my earnings from the previous month, reminiscent of the Sikh guru’s teaching to give back a portion of one’s earnings to society. While I jest about exceeding this guideline by returning 110%, the reality is that support is needed to sustain these impactful activities. My events encompass a diverse range of disciplines, from music and dance to literature, attracting participants from local, national, and global spheres. This vibrant cultural tapestry must persist, unhindered by financial constraints.
Looking at any of your typical events – what does it feature?
Typically, Aurodhan events feature activities of excellence, be it in fine arts, music, dance or literature, local or global. It always tries to deliver these activities keeping three things in mind. Firstly, it educates the uneducated. Secondly, it elevates the already educated and thirdly, it illumines the elevated and while doing this we keep the entertainment factor in view. Over the years, we have done over 3000 events of excellence, all free for all featuring dance, music, arts, theatre, literature and healing activities and so on.
What next?
Aurodhan’s mission encompasses both recognized and undiscovered projects, each bearing unique significance. Among our established initiatives, we curate festivals that shed light on contemporary issues, fostering understanding of environmental, governance, political, literary, and artistic concerns. Additionally, we aspire to organize festivals and shows centered around impactful themes, celebrating the legacy of world wisdom and promoting harmony through these events and thought-provoking themes that ignite dialogue, inspire reflection, and foster positive societal change. We tap at the repositories of wisdom to use it with the lastest technologies available with an effort to create an original and more harmonious future.
